Pathways
Activities:
A Financial Conduct Authority and Institute of Money Advisers accredited Debt resolution service with the aim of reducing and managing debt and increasing lawful income
Assumption:
All existing studies on the association between debt problems and crime have suggested that
the two are correlated. If this holds true then accredited debt help can contribute to the
reduction of re-offending across the county
Activities:
An ASDAN accredited learning package specialising in delivering personal finance and Independent Living support, courses and skills to increase and embed financial capability
Assumption:
The evidence from HMPPS (2019/20) shows that over 50% of those transitioning to the community had numeracy levels at or below the levels expected of an 11-year-old. Our assumption is that
access to increased numeracy understanding is beneficial to a feeling of economic wellbeing and may contribute to better community integration and lowering re-offending
My Life Choices Pathway:
The Independent Me! team received an award for challenging Neurodiversity because Poverty and unemployment are acknowledged as two critical reasons for loss of hope; therefore, participants must recognise and address potential pitfalls, and know how to manage their expenditures  Our courses are ready and approved for delivery in the community and cover finance-related topics that build understanding and confidence to retain the agency for self-help and take participants closer to work.
Activities:
A Poverty Commission supported ‘lived experience’ forum that promotes those participants and stakeholder listening to each other, sharing wisdom and building empathy, trusting relationships are formed to have difficult conversations about economic problems to find the way forward.
Assumption:
Our assumption is that volunteering is something people do for the benefit of themselves and others – Due to the rules associated with FCA accreditation casework volunteering is difficult. However, encouraging participants to support each other through our Listen2Us! lived experience
groups provide positive feedback from participants that can be channelled for the good of others which is important for stakeholders in the design or adaptation of services
The inclusion Pathway:
To the first two pathways, we add the foundational building block of active participants gaining agency through social interaction with other learners and partners. This meaningful inclusion of ‘experts by experience.’ allows others to listen to their views and become involved in service design, as well as the delivery and evaluation of services.  Their contribution to designing, delivering and influencing our learning environment and support pathways leads to improved outcomes for them, our staff and partners.
